Community College Lab Schools
Within the California community colleges, there are 103 Child Development / Early Childhood Education departments responsible for preparing California’s early education teacher workforce. These departments include 91 lab schools.
Lab schools provide high quality educational programs for the children of college students, staff and faculty and often the local community. In addition, they provide comprehensive student teaching opportunities for early childhood majors. California has had up to 109 Child Development Centers in the past. Unfortunately, we have lost 17 Child Development Centers. 14 of these Centers functioned as laboratory schools.
